This is a collection of all my completed engineering projects throughout the year.

Capstone Project:
Project Monophonix

Our capstone project aimed to solve the problem of discomfort and risk of injury that prolonged use of traditional headphones and earbuds users may endure. To solve this, we went through many potential solutions however ultimately opted for a design in which a lens is used. This change in design aims to distribute the weight of the headset more evenly instead of having the device simply weighing down on the users head.

This is a collection of all my completed engineering projects throughout the year.

JPL Sticky Wicket Challenge

Our main project this semester was the the Sticky Wicket Challenge. It required us to create a device that would allow for the shooting of five balls in quick succession to varied wicket placements. To accomplish this our group opted for a pin release system that would strike the ball and send it down a ramp. The design also used a swivel for quick adjustment.

Physics Labs

This unit was spent learning about the physics properties in common tools and equipment found around a workshop.

Rubric
Simple Machines Lab

For this lab we would cycle through four different stations to learn about and understand the physics within simple machines. For example, some stations displayed the use of pulley systems, while others demonstrated the benefits of inclines.

Materials Testing Lab

Within this lab we tested the curve yield for a variety of different bolts made out of different materials. To achieve this we would apply pressure onto the bolts through a jack and record our findings.

Scientific Research Assignment

This assignment had us find and research a scientific journal that did not have to, however, was recommended to relate to our current Capstone Project.

Scientific Journal Analysis

This scientific analysis had the whole class analyze one of  Albert Einstein's research papers "ON THE ELECTRODYNAMICS OF MOVING BODIES" published under the journal Annalen der Physik. This paper and several others within Einstein's "miracle year" were analyzed within this project.

Ethics in Engineering

This unit was all about the moral and ethical dilemmas that are tied to engineering. How one approaches a problem will be different from the next, making it an important subject matter when those same problems involve ones own livelyhood.

A slide presentation on the ethical dilemas involved with the Hyatt walkway collapse.

Monsters Inc Debate

This project focused on the moral dilemmas involved around the main obstacle in the movie "Monster's Inc". Two sides were created to perform a live debate on the legitimacy of the CEO's business practices.
