Personal Statement Essay:

Although a common core standard for all 12th graders, the ability to write personal statements effectively is a skill that will accompany us as we make the journey of applying to colleges. The prompts focus on the individual and their character, rather than their academic achievements. As a result it forces writers to become comfortable talking about themselves in a perspective different from that of a resume. As for myself, I decided to write about my passion for the subject of history and how it has inspired me to be interested in a wide array of new fields.

Engineering Baseline Essay:

As a requirement for everyone enrolled we had to complete a baseline essay within 45 minutes. The prompt focused on the morality that comes to play in decision making how we should be held accountable for actions we may have influenced. I decided to write about the Hyatt hotel collapse as I had knowledge from the previous project, as well as the controversial topic of drone strikes.

Argumentative Essay: A.I.

The subject at hand was the question of whether or not artificial intelligence would be detrimental to a society. Despite potential problems occurring, I argued for its values that it can add to society.

Reverse Engineering Challenge:

This project required us to find a poem to analyze its theme, connotative meaning, and other aspects. Then we would imitate its writing style, in an effort to emulate the authors work to create a deeper understanding of there choices when writing.

Project Hail Mary Article of the week

Starting within our return in January, our class began to read the book Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. To go along side this, we would incorporate ideas taken from the book and extend them to real life situations through the medium of Article analysis. In this example, we looked at solar geoengineering with its strong ties to the themes of the book, as well as its large future implications in the real world.
